Global real-time payments are set to skyrocket to more than $58 trillion by 2028, up 161% over 2024, while real-time payments on the U.S. RTP® network and in Europe are setting new usage records, rising from 17 billion in 2023 to a projected 39 billion in 2028. The latest “Real-Time Payments World Map,” a collaboration with The Clearing House, explores how the race is on for banks, FinTechs, corporates and governments to accelerate payments worldwide.

Global real-time transactions are projected to reach $58 trillion by 2028, up 161% over 2024.
Instant payment transactions in Europe are projected to rise from roughly 17 billion in 2023 to almost 39 billion in 2028.
European clearing and settlement system STET processed more than 50 million cross-border real-time transactions in collaboration with ACI Worldwide in the past 12 months.
